WHATS HAPPENING @ Vermont South Dental

December-2021- Christmas hours

Closing 23rd December 2021 and reopening on 4th January 2022

16-08-2021- Lockdown 6.2

Lockdown has been extended again until midnight 2nd September and a curfew from 9pm - 5am. Dental restriction level remains at necessary. Regular Check and cleans have been rescheduled.

11-08-2021- Lockdown 6.1

Lockdown has been extended for 2 weeks until midnight August 19th

06-08-2021- Lockdown 6.0

Due to the announcement today of Lockdown 6.0 we have been advised by the ADAVB that we are once again deemed as essential services.

This advice allows ‘dental services to be undertaken by oral health professionals in the management of patients with urgent needs or care where failure to do so in a clinically appropriate time frame will lead to adverse outcomes'.

Patients with appointments booked will be contacted and advised if their appointment is able to proceed, or be rescheduled.

COVID UPDATE  -July 2021-               Snap Lockdown 5

Here we go again back into LOCK DOWN, but this time we have been advised by the ADAVB that Dental restrictions will be lifted and we are now classed as  'essential services'.

This new advice allows "dental services to be undertaken by oral health professionals in the management of patients with urgent needs or care where failure to do so in a clinically appropriate time frame will lead to adverse outcomes".

We have been provided a ‘guideline’ but have been told that clinicians should take a risk-based approach during this period. Therefore, our dentists will take each patient’s individual circumstances into consideration to determine treatment and VSD will be moving to level 2.

WHAT THIS MEANS - We are now able to treat patients where "delay in treatment can be detrimental." Part of the dentist’s decision at VSD may also be based on priority, high risk and patients tolerance to rubber dam etc. During the lock down period we will be deferring appointments that are likely to generate aerosols e.g. regular check and clean.

Patients who have appointments that will be effected by this, will be contacted shortly to reschedule.

For current updates follow us on Facebook

VSD would like to urge all patients who have further questions regarding their upcoming  appointment, to not hesitate to call us for clarification on 9803 2188

COVID UPDATE  -MAY-2021-              Snap Lockdown 4.O

Due to the lockdown announcement, we are again only able to see patients with extreme emergencies . If you have an upcoming appointment in the next 7 days, we will be in contact with you soon to reschedule.

For current updates follow us on Facebook

COVID UPDATE  - 12-02-2021-

Due to the lockdown announcement today, we are unsure what our Dental restrictions will be. If you have an upcoming appointment in the next 5 days, we will be in contact with you as soon as were are advised how to proceed.

For current updates follow us on Facebook

28th September   2020                          COVID-19

UPDATE _ With the notification of the 2-step plan from the Victorian Government yesterday, the Dental industry has now been allowed, as of today, to move to Dental Level 1. This means the recommencement of non-urgent treatment and services for patients with a Covid plan in place.

25th September   2020                          COVID-19

Today the Dental Industry moved to Dental Restriction Level 3, as directed by the ADA. In addition to this, the State Government has mandated that we only see patients for urgent dental care.

14th July  2020                          COVID-19

Due to the surge in positive cases, the ADAVB is now recommending that all dental practices in metropolitan Melbourne move to Level 2 Dental restrictions from Wednesday 15th July 2020

7th July  2020                          COVID-19

Stay at Home Restrictions announced for Melbourne

VSD currently still on Level 1 Dental restrictions - Normal operating procedures until advised to do otherwise

25th May 2020                        Email sent to Patients

We are VERY happy to let you know that we are back to business as usual.

On May 11 2020 the Government announced
that Dentists could go to Level 1 operations.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Until we are advised otherwise, we can now work business as usual, with just a few changes. This whole situation is new to us all and we will have to adapt when needed.

You may notice a few changes since your last visit to VSD.

  • We now ask everyone to use the hand sanitiser at reception upon entry.
  • Your temperature will be taken and we will ask a few questions relating to your health and COVID-19.

Tomorrow will be the first day for both dentist's at Vermont South Dental to be working together on the same day since the start of Covid -19 restrictions.

  • If we could please ask patients to arrive as close to their appointment time as possible.
  • If you or a family member that you live with are or previously been feeling unwell, we ask that you call to reschedule your appointment.
  • We are maintaining social distancing where we can. We now have a second patient lounge in a separate room, to cut down the number of people at reception. You may be asked to wait in the surgery until reception is free after your appointment. We have lengthened appointment times, however we may need  to change over the room for the next patient whilst you are waiting.

WE WELCOME YOUR FEEDBACK

It is exhausting for everyone keeping up with all the change.
We would like to let you know that we are truly trying to keep everyone safe.

We would appreciate your comments. If you think we are doing a great job, we would be appreciative, or if you have suggestions on how to improve, we would also like to know your thoughts so we can take that on board. These are trying times for us all, we thank you for your patience and understanding.

UPDATED EMAIL TO PATIENTS

Dear Valued Patient,

As the response to COVID-19 evolves, Vermont South Dental would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to provide continued care to keep the practice operating as close to normality as possible. These are unusual and challenging times, which are rapidly changing. As a result, we have and will continue to update our website regularly for those wanting to know more about our current status at  https://vermontsouthdental.com.au/covid-19-update/

We are Temporarily Closed until further notice and Dental visits have been restricted to emergency visits only.

It is foreseeable however, that at some time in the future, we may be instructed to:

  • Be forced to self-quarantine
  • Or even be forced to close for an undefined period

The above instructions will all be a directive of the National & State Government Health response.  We understand the vagueness of the above statement, but at present, there is an ever-evolving discussion on how to reduce the transmission rate of this virus.

We have put in place procedures to provide you with emergency care if required. Subject to government guidelines.
In the case of full closure, it is foreseen that the government will open emergency dental clinics to treat dental patients for pain relief only. This has already occurred in other countries.

Dental Visits:

Last week we were restricted to only perform limited procedures that were deemed absolutely necessary, because of this we have been calling all patients with appointments booked up until May and rescheduling them. This is to limit the spread of the virus between patients, staff and the greater community.

Infection Control:

To limit the spread of COVID-19, Vermont South Dental is taking additional measures to the Standard infection control measures that are practiced. This involves:

  • Wiping of all surfaces that may be touched by individuals in the whole practice from the front to the back door. Treating the whole practice as a treatment room e.g. door handles, reception counter, pens, HICAPS Terminal etc.
  • Removal of all reading materials and toys from the patient lounge
  • Covers are being made for the fabric seating creating a wipe able surface and seating has been altered to provide greater distance between patients
  • Practicing good hand hygiene
  • Keeping an adequate social distance where appropriate
  • Staff staying away if any signs of illness develop, seek medical advice and testing for COVID-19 if appropriate
  • Asking patients to avoid attending and delaying treatment if they have any risk signs as mentioned below:
    • Fever
    • Any new continuous cough?
    • Sore throat
    • Shortness of breath
    • Tummy upset/ Mild diarrhea
    • Have you been self-isolating
    • Are you living with a Covid-19 positive person

Anyone who has been in contact with a person who has been confirmed to have COVID-19 or been overseas recently must have isolated themselves and will not be able to attend. Contact your GP/Doctor/Health Service COVID-19 clinic.

Patients:

 To assist us to be mindful in trying to help not spread this disease we request that you consider the following;

In times like these, we must be mindful of others. It is possible that for most of us the illness will come and go, but for those at risk the above measures will help ensure their safety. We thank you for your co-operation, patience and understanding.

We look forward to resuming normal operations when allowed to do so.All the very best everyone, please be safe and take care as we work through these challenging times together.
